The presidential election petition tribunal may soon deliver its judgment over the disputed presidential election which took place in 2019.The major petitioners and defendant are the candidates of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) Alhaji Atiku Abubarkar and President Muhammadu Buhari of the All Progressive Congress (APC).
Atiku is challenging the results of the election declared by the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) as fake and doctored by the APC.
INEC had also joined in the defense of the election that it conducted claiming that it was free and fair.
Meanwhile, both parties in the case have been involved in a war of words that has heated the poltical space ahead of the tribunal judgment.
A final pronouncement on the case by the presidential election tribunal will help stabilize the already overheated polity.
Major contentions in the case are about President Buhari's academic qualifications and the alleged rigging of an election that had been supposedly won by the opposition PDP candidate.
